Soul Food Junkies Documentary

Soul Food Junkies by Byron Hurt is presented by the Coalition for a Healthy North Long Beach and the Office of Councilmember Steven Neal on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Houghton Park Community Center located at 6301 Myrtle Ave 90805. A light reception begins at 5:30 pm and the film begins at 6:00 pm.

Soul food lies at the heart of African American cultural identity. The black community's love affair with soul food is deep-rooted, complex, and in some cases, deadly. Soul Food Junkies puts this culinary tradition under the microscope to examine both its significance and its consequences.

Screening is free and open to the public. Seating is limited and available on a first come-first served basis.
